Magazine cover challenge

Hello! We’re taking a break from our regular programming for a special event. Xanadu has been organizing this activity for several years to celebrate modern BJDs. With their permission, we’re expanding the magazine cover challenge to include any type of doll.

What is the challenge about?

  1. You need to think of a name for your magazine.
  2. Choose a theme (it can be Halloween or something completely different).
  3. Take an appropriate photo using your own BJD or other doll.
  4. Use your own editing programme (let us know which one you used).
  5. Most of all . . . have fun!

I cheated just a little bit because I didn’t take the photo today, but I was waiting for the perfect moment to use it. I like how it turned out so much that I wanted to dedicate a whole post to it, but I didn’t know how 😅.

For my magazine cover, I used Adobe Photoshop, since that’s the program I use for work and I might as well get my money’s worth out of the subscription 😝.

Chandelle magazine. The cover shows 2 Licca dolls.

The name “Chandelle” comes from a dessert that’s very popular here in Chile, and it used to be my favorite when I was little. The photo of the fashion pack is something I bought a while ago that I haven’t shown here yet or used in photos.

Detrás de escena, así se hizo la fotografía.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the setup. As you can see, I only used the light coming in through the window. The final shot has a little extra light on the side, which I added using a small reflector. The pose looks simple, but it took me many tries to make it look natural.

I also took part in this challenge in 2016. I hope you’ll give it a try 💕.
