What I want for 2015

12 Comments on What I want for 2015

It’s the last day of the year so I thought I would finish it up with a list of goals I want to accomplish this new year.

I’m also happy to say that I finally received a shipping notice for my Lady Alice today so I think it’s the perfect way to end this year. I can’t keep thinking that she was one of the last dolls to be sent this year, which is amazing in my opinion.

My goals for 2015 are pretty simple, since I prefer to be realistic and set goals that are challenging enough, but that I can actually do. So here they are:

1. Upload more photos of my dolls: which means to actually take more photos that I like. It came to my attention that even though I took a lot more photos of my dolls this year, I only liked 3 or 4 enough to upload them to galleries, which is a very sad number considering that Musume, Fyrd, Sherimi and many others are able to put gorgeous collages with many pictures from this year. So as I was challenged by Sherimi, my goal for this year is to take at least one photo that I really like each month.

2. Get the story of my dolls straight: I keep changing things to justify new dolls and sculpts I don’t need but I want. This is because a huge part of my story is very changeable at the moment, so I think it would be nice if I can finally stick to one version of it. The main part of it is the romance between Lucas, a mere human with a creature of the forest. At the beginning Lucas was going to be a girl and the forest creature male, and then I decided that Lucas would be a man no matter what and the romance would go with a male creature. Since I decided to purchase Onyx in the end, she was going to be Lucas’ love interest. But we all now that Onyx is hopefully going to a new house at some point so I can either go back to a male forest creature or keep it female and choose a new sculpt. After I decide this, I need to polish everything else so I can start posting character profiles.

3. Think really hard before purchasing any more dolls: Ideally, I would like to keep this year simple. I haven’t posted this here before, and it may come as a surprise, but I sold my DollShe Saint a few days ago. The decision was hard to make but I was feeling nothing from it and though I love Faolan as a character, the doll wasn’t right for him. If I can manage to sell my Onyx as well I will start looking for new sculpts. This year I only want to get a partner for Lucas, I’ve been thinking that Supia Hael could be nice or a SOOM Heliot dream ripper (which is appropiate I think, since his face is kinda femenine and this version of the sculpt has better lips than the original in my opinion) or a SOOM Chrom (but I’m not sure about this, since originally Chrom was going to be Faolan, instead of a Saint). I’ll keep the cream white jointed hands I bought from SOOM in case I can find a male sculpt that I like from SOOM. Other than that I will focus on the dolls I really want, like a grey skin Beyla/Bygg and skip dolls that might end up in the marketplace. Hopefully I will have learn what works and what doesn’t for me after this year experiences.

4. Learn to sew: I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to make clothes for my dolls, but I’d love to try at least for basic stuff like leggings or simple tops. If this end up being too much for me I’ll be content with doing equally useful things for my dolls like props or accessories.

And I think that’s the core of it for the most part! I’d love to keep practicing face ups and getting better at anything related to this hobby, so we will see how it goes.

I wish you all a very happy new year, full of nice surprises, love, health, happiness and a great year for your dolls!

    Happy New Year! 😀
Interesting you’re considering a Heliot. I used to own a female Heliot. They’re just gorgeous as all genders 🙂
I like Supia Hael too, but I guess I’m just a Supia fan ;D
Good luck with the sewing :3 It’s so challenging, but exciting, isn’t it? 😀

I’ve always loved Heliot except for the mouth, so the dream ripper version is kinda perfect :D! But who knows what the future will bring, maybe I’ll find a sculpt that works better than heliot or hael 🙂
Let’s hope I can learn the basics of sewing at least hehe, that’s quite the challenge I agree!
      Thank you!!!

Well they are all achievable Alejandra, Number 2 and 3 are things I need to do too! I wish you all the best with the sewing, it’s really not as hard as you may think. I must say I am sorry to see your DollShe Saint go, but you have to do what’s right for you.
    Happy New Year!

Thanks!! 2 and 3 are the hardest and the ones everyone needs to do at some point imo. I wish you all the luck with that too!
I love seeing other people’s Saints, he’s just not for me. The girl who bought it does really nice face ups so I’m sure he will turn out great in the end 🙂
I wish you all the best for 2015!

Nice resolutions! Streamlining and focusing on what you really want is always a good choice. For the dolls, I too was really taken by that Dream Ripper. One of the few openly vampiric sculpts I have really liked. I also like Chrom very much, although I’m in the minority, liking the nosejob version better. In any case I hope you can find the big doll you need and the little hoofling you want 🙂

And although sewing can be fun, don’t feel bad if you have to ‘settle for’ making props. I for one would love to be able to do props, but I would suck at it sooo much 😀 We all have our own strenghts.

Hehe yeah I’m not that into vampired but the dream ripper is amazing. Too bad chances of him being re released this year are non existant XD. You must be the only person that I know who likes the new nose for Chrom ahaha, but it’s okay, I just love the original version way more 😀
      Thanks!!

I hope you had a lovely New Year’s Eve and New Year!

I am similar to you with #2. I am constantly revamping my dolls’ characters so I need to do this too!

Ah shame Saint didn’t work for you but as always, if something doesn’t work, it is best to let it go. I think I struggle with this aspect of the hobby myself!

      Thanks!!
Revamping a story has nothing wrong, but after a while I just wish I could stickl to one version xD. Let’s hope we both manage to do it this year :D!
Ah yes, Saint is gorgeous but not for me. I hope I don’t regret it in the future, he is the first doll to leave my house so I’m not sure how I will feel in the future xD.
At the moment I’m very happy someone wanted him more than me.

    Happy new year Alejandra! *^^*

Your resolutions are very nice. Congratulations on a quick sale of your Saint. I hope someone will be interested in your Onyx as well 🙂
It’s not easy parting with a doll, but it can really boost ones motivation in the hobby.
The ‘upload more photos’ is one I know too well myself…maybe we should make a challenge? XD
I hope all your resolutions will come true. Don’t be discouraged about sewing, it takes practice and patience, but if you give yourself time I’m sure you can do it (^^)<3

I look forward to read all the exciting stuff you will post about this year! <3

I also hope Onyx sells soon, I feel so bad for having her here and not knowing what to do with her. I’m also happy Saint sold so fast, I started the year with extra unexpected cash 🙂
My challenge is to upload AT LEAST one good photo each month so I can do a 12 photos collage at the end of the year. I saw some people joining a 1 photo a week challenge but I know that I couldn’t keep up with that one. You should join me and my challenge :D!!
